The tagline, everything self help is a distraction, means don’t believe the constant hype that you have to constantly work to “improve” yourself, your situation, whatever, because there’s something wrong with you.
Where we put our attention matters—that’s why companies and corporations engineer our online experience to compel our (finite) attention. Even if they just grab a nanosecond. Nanoseconds add up to profits. As Google developers said in a famous 2017 paper, attention is all you need.
Awareness and meditation practices can help you reclaim this precious resource.
